Wood American Flag

Make a wood flag. Our adult program for June we will make an American flag out of wood. Cost is $6 and you must sign up. There is a demo of the flag in the library and a picture on our webpage and in our June newsletter.

Kid’s Summer Reading Programs

Our Movie Monday is at 1 p.m. Mondays as follows: “Disney’s Lion Guard” June13, “Lego Super Heroes Cosmic Clash” June 20, and “The Peanuts Movie” June 27. Join us for popcorn and a movie. Craft Wednesday at 1 p.m. will be foil monograms June 15, painted tote bags June 22, and Buggles June 29. You must sign up for all craft programs. Fitness Fridays at 1 p.m. will be hula hoops and jump ropes June 17 and kids’ yoga June 24.

Professor Steve And Ronald McDonald

Ronald McDonald will be here at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, and Professor Steve will be here at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 16. Join us for these entertaining programs.

TSRTeen Summer Reading Crafts Moved to July

All teen craft programs will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday July 7th we will be subway art, Thursday, July 14th will be the lighted Death Star, Thursday, July 21st design your own T-shirt, and Thursday, July 28th make a monogram 3D butterfly shadowbox. We will also have our regular teen programs: Anime movie night from 5-8 p.m. the third Friday of the month and teen gaming night from 5-8 p.m. the last Friday of the month. Both programs are for teens 13 and up only.

Note: Any Tippecanoe Valley student can apply for a student card. This entitles you to check out books at Bell Library. A library card is needed to check out books and turn in recorded reading for prizes but you don’t need a library card to attend the programs.

Coming in July for our Summer Reading Program will be Bombs Away. If you are interested in World War II history or in the War Birds and other planes, join us at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 9. Matt Hurd, owner of Bombs Away LLC, Bryan, Ohio specializes in building bomb replicas, grenades and military items for museums, aircraft owners, businesses and collectors. He has even made bomb replicas for Rihanna. Matt Hurd also attends air shows around the country portraying a bomber crewman for the World War II B-17 bomber. He has also flown the B-17 Bomber to some of the air shows. This program is open to all ages. You do not need to sign up for this program.

martial artsMartial Arts Demonstration

Rochester Family Martial Arts will be at Bell Library at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 2. The primary purpose of martial arts is to develop the techniques and discipline for protection in a self-defense situation. Try your hand at breaking a board, too. You must sign up, sign a waiver form and pay $2 to break a board. Forms are available at the circulation desk. The Rochester Family Martial Arts is offering a special invitation to all kids participating in the program at Bell Library.

akron arts leagueAkron Area Arts League Painting Class

The Akron Area Arts League will be hosting an art program for kids ages 8 to 15. This program runs Monday through Thursday July 18-21 from 9 a.m. to noon. The kid’s art ahow will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 21. Parents and family are welcome to come enjoy what the kids created all week. Artwork will be sent home after the show. Cost for this program is $25 and includes all materials. Class size is limited to 20 and you must fill out a form and send it with check to The Akron Arts League. Forms are available at the circulation desk.

Culver Winter Fest this weekend Feb. 12-14

The second weekend in February brings everyone out of their houses and into the park for fun-filled winter days. The National Ice Fishing Competition is held on Lake Maxinkuckee along with a Kids Ice Fishing Camp. Come out and enjoy the winter with ice sculptures displayed throughout the town, sledding and ice skating in the Town Park, and the popular Polar Plunge. Oh – and some warm chili to fill your bellies. Also don’t miss out on the Cupid’s Crawl shopping event Friday. Visit the website for a complete schedule.

Make a Recipe Potholder!

You don’t need any sewing experience to make these adorable recipe potholders. Pick your favorite family recipe, put it on fabric and sew it as a potholder. We will have several fabric options to choose from. Cost for this program is $3.00.

Time and date is Thursday, January 21st at 6:00 PM. You must sign up and bring in your  recipe by January 18th so we can print it on a special heat transfer paper.

We have 11 small sewing machines available to use or you can bring your own

Have you always wondered how to make your own soap? Would you like to watch the soap making process from beginning to end? Learn how to make good, safe, soap for your family. Shaun Mudd,  will be here to demonstrate the  process from beginning to end. Shaun will make a 6 lb. loaf of soap and he will also have some samples to take home. Time & Date will be Tuesday, December 29th at 6:00 PM.

 

 

 

Grandma’s Recipe Book available for download

cookbookRemember that recipe you were supposed to write down and didn’t?  Remember that meal that you enjoyed and lost the recipe?  One of our Library patrons was kind enough to share with us her mother’s recipe book.  Feel free to download and enjoy some mighty tasty vittles!  The book is 104 pages and our server is slow, so be patient while the file loads.

Learn How To French Braid, November 21st!

Join us Saturday, November 21st from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM and learn how to do French Braids. Open to all ages. Bring someone to practice braids on and your own brushes, combs, mirror, and hair ties. Shelly Kohls, from Rochester will be our instructor. Please sign up for this program.

Computer Classes at Bell Library, October 21st & 28th!

computer classesStarting the last two Wednesday’s in October, the 21st & 28th from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Classes will be held in the large conference room. Laptops will be available but you may bring your own if you have one. There is no charge for these classes but you must pre-register with name, phone#, and email if you have one. Class size is limited to just 6 people. Information covered will be:

  2. What do all of these blasted keys on the keyboard do?
  3. How to launch/start a program
  4. Difference between right and left click with the mouse
  5. Difference between file and folder
  6. How to use e-mail
  7. What is a good price for a computer

Tactical Edge, Firearm Training Simulator, October 22nd!

Tactical Edge is a Firearm Training Simulator. Tactical Edge offers training in NRA basic pistol, NRA personal protection in the home, NRA home firearm safety, one on one personal firearm instruction, and active shooter training and engagement. Steve Cooper, NRA Pistol Instructor and NRA Personal Protection Instructor will be at Bell Library to demonstrate this interactive video format; utilizing actual firearms with Wireless Bluetooth Capabilities and real time training diagnostics. It provides the most realistic training experience in using firearms, including magazine reloads, jam exercises, and recoil. Learn to be prepared to effectively engage the firearm you are licensed to carry. Time and date is Thursday, October 22nd at 6:00 PM.
